Job summary

Hackajob Ltd in the United Kingdom is seeking a senior software engineer to design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality software and new product capabilities.

You will collaborate with cross-functional partners to deliver outcomes aligned to business needs, communicate progress and risks, and apply Agile practices to iterative delivery. You will drive adoption of enterprise AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts.
• Proficiency in Java development with J2EE server technologies.
• Experience with CI/CD and build tooling (Jenkins, Maven, TeamCity).
• Knowledge of design patterns, UML, and OO concepts.
• Experience with relational databases and SQL.
• Experience with version control (Bitbucket).
• UI technologies including HTML5 and JavaScript.
• Experience evaluating AI-assisted software development tools for quality and security.
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows.
• Ability to collaborate in a team and communicate effectively.
• Familiarity with Angular or React.
• Knowledge of AWS or cloud technologies.

Salary: £100,000 - 100,000 per year

Requirements

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and advanced applied experience
• Proficiency in Java development with J2EE server technologies (Web Services, Spring, ORM frameworks, XML, Enterprise Java Beans, JMS)
• Working knowledge of CI/CD and build tooling (such as Jenkins, TeamCity, Maven)
• Working knowledge of design patterns, UML, and object-oriented concepts
• Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL
• Working knowledge of source control management tools (Bitbucket or equivalent)
• Working knowledge of UI technologies including HTML5 and JavaScript
• Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, test creation, troubleshooting, or documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices
