Job summary

VIVA Tech Talent in Belfast is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to head our embedded software and HMI team. You will design, architect, and deliver secure, low-power embedded software for cyber-physical systems, owning the core stack and setting technical direction.

You will lead a fast-moving, hands-on engineering group, drive architecture, prototyping, and ensure compliance with security and safety standards while collaborating on bids and customer discussions.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on embedded software experience (C/C++) in production-grade systems.
• Proven technical leadership with mentoring embedded engineers.
• Experience delivering secure networking software at Layer 2/3.
• Experience designing HMI applications for cyber-physical or industrial systems.
• Track record of delivering secure, compliant software in fast-moving environments.
• Comfort with compressed, rapid-prototyping delivery cycles.
• Knowledge of cryptography and secure communications.
• Familiarity with security and safety compliance frameworks.
• Cloud/backend experience (Python, Go, Java) and hardware-software co-design familiarity.

We're looking for a Lead Software Engineer to lead our embedded software and HMI applications team — a hands-on, experienced engineering leader who can design, architect, and deliver secure, industry-compliant embedded software for cyber-physical systems.

You'll own the embedded software architecture and act as design authority for our core software stack and associated HMI applications, with a particular focus on low-power, secure Layer 2/3 communication networking — including network orchestration and routing.
