The Role of Lead Soft Tissue Therapist

Brentford Football Club is enjoying the most exciting period in its history and are looking for an accomplished Soft Tissue Therapist to join our team.

Working within the Medical Department alongside a multidisciplinary team of practitioners this individual will be responsible for the delivery of outstanding soft‑tissue therapy and associated modalities to our 1st Team and high‑potential senior Academy players. The successful candidate will be predominantly based at Jersey Road working with other members of Medical and Performance staff; however there may be a need for this individual to travel to some home and away games plus UK/overseas tours with our squads.

We are looking for a pro‑active individual with a forward‑thinking and problem‑solving attitude who seeks to utilise their skills and experience to raise the levels of support offered to our players.

Main Accountabilities
Training Ground
  • Support in the delivery of soft‑tissue therapy to 1st Team and high‑potential senior Academy players.
  • Support doctors and physiotherapists in providing elite‑level injury prevention and rehabilitation treatments as required.
  • Take a proactive role in the investigation of and delivery of players’ recovery modalities both on an individualised and squad‑based level.
  • Support in the upkeep of the training ground medical treatment space including replenishment of consumables.
  • Support in the maintenance and management of stock and equipment including ordering of all medical supplies through key medical suppliers.
Match Days
  • Provide pre‑match soft‑tissue therapy to 1st Team squad players as directed.
  • Stay overnight at the team hotel on the evening prior to 1st Team matches and provide soft‑tissue therapy to players as required.
  • Support in ensuring that all equipment and consumables required for matches are checked, maintained, ordered and packed.
  • Take an active role in post‑match optimal recovery modalities for 1st Team players as needed.
  • Take a lead role in the pre‑match set‑up of medical equipment at stadiums/venues as needed.
Tours / Training Camps
  • Provide soft‑tissue therapy to 1st Team and high‑potential senior Academy players on all UK and overseas tours.
  • Take an active role in the provision of optimal recovery modalities for both training matches and travel whilst on tour.
  • Support in ensuring that all equipment and consumables required for tours/camps are checked, maintained, ordered and packed.
General Medical Dept Accountabilities
  • Maintain up to date treatment records using the Kitman Labs / PMA medical records system.
  • Ensure individual qualifications training and CPD requirements are kept up to date and in line with any applicable regulations.
  • Uphold the highest levels of vigilance with regards to cross‑contamination between players, equipment and consumables.
  • Report any concerns observed or raised to the Safeguarding Team through appropriate channels.
Continued Professional Development
  • Take responsibility for personal continued professional development (CPD) and keep an up‑to‑date portfolio of achievements.
  • Take an active role in delivering regular departmental CPD sessions for full‑ and part‑time medical staff.
General Club Accountabilities
