Job summary

Utilita Energy Ltd is seeking a Lead Smart Meter Engineer in Scotland to lead by example, install meters alongside engineers and coach them to improve performance.

You will use your field experience to develop others, ensure safety and quality, and support the Field Manager with day-to-day operations. DBS/DOS vetting and a full UK driving licence are required.

Qualifications

• CCN1 CMA1 CMA3 MET1 in-date qualifications are required or preferred.
• Experience coaching other engineers in field settings is desirable.
• Strong leadership and hands-on installation capability.

Responsibilities

• Install and commission Smart Meters while leading by example.
• Coach and support engineers to develop technical knowledge.
• Maintain safety, quality and regulatory compliance on site.

Salary: £42,000 per annum plus a discretionary bonus scheme

Are you an experienced Smart Meter Engineer looking to take the next step in your career whilst continuing to work hands‑on in the field?

As a Lead Smart Meter Engineer, you'll lead by example by completing installations alongside coaching and supporting engineers.

You will use your technical knowledge and field experience to help others develop, overcome technical challenges, and consistently deliver high standards of safety, quality, compliance, and performance.

What part can you play in making a difference?

As a Lead Field Engineer, you will support the Field Manager with the day‑to‑day operations of the team, whilst being the first point of contact for our engineers.

Your role will combine installing Smart Meters, alongside coaching and development responsibilities. You'll adapt your approach to the needs of each engineer, sharing best practice, providing constructive guidance, and helping colleagues build their technical knowledge and confidence.

What do we need from you?

You’ll be an experienced Dual Fuel Smart Meter Engineer holding in date CCN1/ CMA1/ CMA3 and MET1 or equivalent qualifications. Three-phase and medium‑pressure qualifications would be advantageous, but they are not essential.

You’ll be approachable, patient, and confident, with the ability to adapt your coaching style to the engineer you’re supporting. You’ll be equally comfortable providing guidance to others and completing your own work in the field.

You must be organised, proactive, and comfortable using your own initiative. Whether you’re completing installations, supporting an engineer or assisting the Field Manager, you’ll lead by example demonstrating a strong commitment to safety, quality, compliance, and performance.

Within this role, you will hold a full UK driving licence and be required to complete a DBS/DOS vetting check.
