Job summary

Dynatrace is seeking an experienced Lead Site Reliability Engineer with deep Dynatrace expertise to join a major technology and platform engineering programme in Colchester. The role focuses on ownership of Dynatrace, implementing observability end-to-end, and acting as a technical SME in complex production environments.

Qualifications

• Experience with Dynatrace implementation, configuration and ownership.
• Proficiency in designing end-to-end observability/monitoring solutions.
• Strong SRE/production engineering background.
• Experience configuring instrumentation, metrics, alerting, and monitoring.
• Familiarity with OneAgent, ActiveGate, distributed tracing, and monitoring of apps/infrastructure.
• Cloud experience across AWS, Azure and/or GCP.
• Exposure to CI/CD and automation; containerisation beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Lead SRE and observability engineering across large-scale environments.
• Own the observability strategy from implementation through production troubleshooting.
• Mentor and support other engineers as a SME in Dynatrace and SRE practices.

Job Description

We're looking for an experienced Site Reliability Engineer / Observability Engineer with deep Dynatrace expertise to join a major technology and platform engineering programme. This is not a role for someone who has simply used Dynatrace dashboards. We're looking for an engineer who has been involved in the implementation, configuration and ongoing ownership of Dynatrace, and can operate as a technical SME within complex production environments.

What we're looking for

• Strong hands-on Dynatrace implementation and administration experience
• Experience designing and implementing observability/monitoring solutions end-to-end
• Strong SRE and production engineering background
• Experience configuring instrumentation, metrics, alerting and monitoring
• Understanding of technologies such as OneAgent, ActiveGate, distributed tracing and application/infrastructure monitoring
• Experience troubleshooting complex production issues using observability tooling
• Cloud experience across AWS, Azure and/or GCP
• Exposure to CI/CD, automation and modern software delivery
• Kubernetes/containerisation experience beneficial but not essential
• Ability to operate as a technical lead/SME, supporting and mentoring other engineers

The opportunity

You'll join a sizeable engineering capability working across complex, large-scale environments, taking a leading role in SRE and observability engineering. There is flexibility around some of the wider cloud/platform technology stack for candidates with genuinely strong Dynatrace and SRE expertise. If you've personally implemented Dynatrace rather than simply consumed it, and can confidently lead the observability conversation from implementation through to production troubleshooting,
