Job description

We're looking for a passionate and forward‑thinking Lead SHEQ professional to join our team in this new and exciting role within a rapidly growing organisation.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you'll take ownership of our SHEQ strategy across the business — from warehousing and logistics to head office operations.

This is a strategic and hands‑on leadership position where you'll drive compliance, embed a culture of proactive safety, and continuously enhance performance across all areas of Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality.

At Leader, our values — Teamwork, Care, Customer Centricity, Respect, and Integrity — are at the heart of everything we do. You'll play a key part in bringing these values to life through your leadership and expertise.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead the design and delivery of our health, safety, environmental, and quality strategy.
  • Ensure compliance with UK legislation and ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001).
  • Coach and empower managers to embed "safety-first" behaviours across all teams.
  • Provide clear KPIs, data, and insights to the Board to inform decision‑making.
  • Support and maintain FSC certification.
  • Continuously identify opportunities for improvement, sustainability, and cultural engagement.
About You

We're looking for someone who combines technical expertise with strong leadership and communication skills, inspiring teams to take ownership of safety and quality standards.

You’ll Bring
  • Proven SHEQ leadership experience, ideally within logistics or warehousing.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate and/or Diploma or equivalent.
  • Deep understanding of UK H&S, environmental, and quality legislation.
  • A track record of delivering transformational cultural and operational improvements.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to engage at all levels.
  • A genuine passion for creating safe, compliant, and high‑performing workplaces.
Ready to Join Us?

If you share our passion for safety, wellbeing, and continuous improvement — and want to play a leading role in shaping our culture — we'd love to hear from you.

Apply today and help us make Leader an even safer, healthier, and happier place to work.

Benefits

You’ll join a business where your ideas are valued, your growth is supported, and your impact is recognised.

Here’s what you can expect
  • A key leadership role with scope to shape company‑wide SHEQ strategy.
  • A supportive environment where your expertise will make a tangible difference.
  • A culture that values professional excellence and continuous improvement.
Your Benefits Include
  • 22 days' annual leave + bank holidays
    • Buy up to 3 extra days, or sell back up to 2 days — flexibility that works for you.
    • Length of Service Awards — earn 1 extra day every 3 years.
  • Salary sacrifice pension scheme (3% employer contribution).
  • Cycle‑to‑work scheme.
  • Staff discounts across our full product range.
  • Subsidised gym membership.
Your Wellbeing Matters
  • Access to Able Futures — a confidential, government‑backed mental wellbeing support service.
  • Employee Assistance Programme (EAP): 24/7 professional counselling, advice, and wellbeing guidance.
  • Regular wellbeing initiatives, from workshops to mindfulness sessions, to help you thrive inside and outside of work.
