NEC Software Solutions in Hemel Hempstead is seeking a Lead/Senior Software Engineer - Full stack to own the design, development and delivery of end-to-end platform capabilities across frontend, backend and data layers.

You will work with React/Next.js, Node.js, PostgreSQL, cloud infrastructure, and integration platforms, driving architecture decisions and ensuring secure, scalable, high-performing solutions with a focus on AI integration and improved engineering workflows.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in full stack development using React, Next.js (App Router), Node.js, and TypeScript.
• Proven frontend architecture expertise including SSR, ISR, caching, and performance optimization.
• Backend development experience with REST APIs and BFF services.
• Experience designing and managing PostgreSQL databases, schemas, and performance tuning.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS) and deployment tools (CI/CD, GitHub).
• Understanding of system architecture, scalability, and distributed systems.
• Experience implementing authentication and authorization models (Auth0, RBAC).
• Experience with UI frameworks and design systems (Tailwind, component libraries).
• Experience integrating third-party services and enterprise platforms.
• Security best practices and secrets management awareness.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum environments.

Lead/Senior Software Engineer - Full stack

The Lead/Senior Software Engineer - Full stackwill be responsible for owning the design, development, and delivery of end-to-end platform capabilities across frontend, backend, and data layers.

This role requires deep expertise across modern web technologies, including React / Next.js, Node.js APIs, PostgreSQL, cloud infrastructure, and integration platforms. The individual will take ownership of architectural decisions, drive best practice across the engineering team, and ensure delivery of secure, scalable, and high-performing solutions.

The role also includes driving innovation through AI integration, improving engineering workflows, and ensuring that platform capabilities translate into tangible product value.

• Strong experience in full stack development using React, Next.js (App Router), Node.js, and TypeScript
• Proven expertise in frontend architecture, including SSR, ISR, caching, and performance optimisation
• Strong backend development experience building REST APIs and backend-for-frontend (BFF) services
• Experience designing and managing PostgreSQL databases, schemas, and performance tuning
• Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and deployment tooling (CI/CD pipelines, GitHub)
• Strong understanding of system architecture, scalability, and distributed systems
• Experience implementing authentication and authorisation models (e.g. Auth0, RBAC)
• Strong experience with modern UI frameworks, including Tailwind / component libraries / design systems
• Experience integrating third-party services and enterprise platforms
• Understanding of security best practices, secrets management, and compliance requirements
• Experience working within Agile/Scrum environments
• Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills
• Experience with serverless architecture and microservices
• Experience with event-driven systems and message queues
• Exposure to data engineering pipelines or analytics platforms
• Experience with AI/ML frameworks or LLM integrations
• Knowledge of DevOps best practices and Infrastructure as Code
• Experience working in enterprise or regulated environments (e.g. NHS, DSPT compliance).
  

Strong commercial experience in full stack software engineering is essential; a degree in Computer Science or related discipline is advantageous but not required
