Job summary

Metrea seeks a Principal RF Engineer to lead RF system design and integration for expeditionary electronic warfare, SIGINT and secure communications capabilities. You will oversee RF architecture, receivers, transmitters, antennas and signal distribution while coordinating with electrical, mechanical, software, cyber and operations teams.

The role involves rapid prototyping, testing, trials and deployment across UK and international settings, with hybrid London or Lincoln base and up to 15%

Qualifications

• Degree in RF/Electronic/Electrical or related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 7 years’ RF systems design, development, integration, testing or delivery.
• Experience with defence/aerospace/EW/SiI or related sector; RF systems on unmanned platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and integrate RF systems for expeditionary EW, SIGINT, spectrum ops and secure comms.
• Develop RF architectures covering antennas, receivers, transmitters, filters, and signal distribution.
• Conduct RF performance analysis including gain, noise figure, sensitivity and link budgets.
• Support rapid R&D, prototyping, technology evaluation and deployable RF solutions.
• Integrate RF equipment across airborne, vehicle-mounted, maritime, fixed-site and unmanned platforms.
• Plan and conduct RF testing, verification and fault diagnosis.
• Ensure EMC, grounding, shielding and environmental protections in designs.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams throughout the lifecycle.
• Support UK and international trials, installations and deployments.
• Provide RF technical leadership and clear engineering recommendations.
