Job summary

First Military Recruitment Ltd seeks a Senior RF Engineer (Defence) in North London to lead RF and antenna projects across the product lifecycle. The role is hands-on, covering design, modelling, testing and support through development, verification and manufacture.

You will work with RF/microwave circuits, antenna systems and production processes, delivering high-performance modules while collaborating with suppliers and internal teams in a defence-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in RF / microwave PCB design including schematic development and PCB layout.
• Knowledge of RF components including amplifiers, LNAs, filters, mixers, circulators and PLLs.
• Understanding of RF system design and cascade analysis.
• Experience using RF test equipment including Spectrum Analysers and Vector Network Analysers.
• Knowledge of antenna theory, design and testing including array, slotted array and printed antennas.
• Understanding of design for manufacture and production processes such as SMT.
• Strong technical communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead RF and antenna development projects, including internal and subcontracted work packages.
• Design, maintain and improve RF circuits, microwave modules and antenna systems.
• Develop technical specifications and oversee verification and validation.
• Support RF module manufacture, fault investigation and root cause analysis.
• Provide technical support to engineering teams, suppliers and customers.
• Maintain RF production testing methods and technical documentation.
• Support product improvements, obsolescence management and design for manufacture.
