Job summary

Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust seeks an experienced Lead Pharmacy Technician - Quality Assurance to head QA activities across the Aseptic Preparation Unit, ensuring GMP and QAAPS compliance and inspection readiness. You will oversee audits, CAPAs, change controls and environmental monitoring, guiding staff training and continuous quality improvement.

Qualifications

Experience leading QA activities in an aseptic unit (APU).
Strong understanding of GMP and QAAPS standards.
Ability to manage deviations, CAPAs, change controls, audits and investigations.

Responsibilities

Lead day-to-day QA activities within the APU, ensuring GMP and QAAPS compliance.
Develop and manage quality systems: deviations, CAPAs, change controls, audits, validation, risk management.
Oversee environmental monitoring and quality control programmes; investigate trends and implement corrective actions.
Coordinate internal audits and support external inspections to stay inspection-ready.
Act as authorised product approver for aseptic products and support safe release of chemotherapy medicines.
Provide QA advice to pharmacy, aseptic services and clinical trials teams.
Support staff training, competency assessment and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Contribute to development of pharmacy technical services for safe, efficient patient-focused delivery.
