Job summary

Yorkshire Water is hiring a Lead Project Manager to steer a portfolio of capital projects within the Asset Delivery team. You will work with internal teams, consultants, contractors and supply-chain partners to deliver projects that improve services for customers while protecting the environment.

Join a capital delivery alliance, lead complex programmes worth £40-70 million, and shape how the alliance operates. Prior experience in water or regulated sectors is helpful but not essential.

Qualifications

• Strong experience delivering large construction/engineering projects

Responsibilities

• Deliver portfolio of significant construction and engineering projects

Location:

Leeds Valley Park (LS10), hybrid working, minimally 2 days in the office/on-site per week, with regular travel to Yorkshire Water sites.

Work type:

Permanent, 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday

We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Project Manager to join the Asset Delivery team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water provide the best service to our customers.

As a Lead Project Manager, you will lead a portfolio of approximately 15 construction and engineering projects worth £40-70 million over the next four years. Working as part of Yorkshire Water's new capital delivery Alliance, you will collaborate with Yorkshire Water colleagues, consultants, contractors and supply-chain partners to deliver projects that improve services for customers whilst protecting the environment.

The opportunity

This is a key role in Yorkshire Water’s new capital delivery Alliance. You will work with Yorkshire Water colleagues, consultants, contractors and supply-chain partners to deliver projects from early development through design, construction, handover and close-out. You will have the opportunity to shape how the Alliance works and help improve services for customers while protecting the environment. Experience in the water industry is helpful but not essential; we also welcome applicants from other complex, regulated or safety-critical sectors.

What you will be accountable for

• Taking overall responsibility for the delivery of a portfolio of significant construction and engineering projects.
• Leading projects from early development through design, construction, handover and close-out, ensuring delivery meets agreed time, cost, quality and business requirements.
• Maintaining effective governance, delivery plans, forecasts and performance reporting, with clear accountability and timely escalation of risks and issues.
• Leading project managers and wider multidisciplinary teams, including consultants, contractors and supply-chain partners.
• Managing commercial, contractual and financial responsibilities, including NEC contract administration, change, risk and opportunity.
• Working with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues, support decisions and achieve the required customer, environmental and regulatory outcomes.
• Ensuring work is planned and delivered safely, while promoting high standards of wellbeing, environmental performance and professional practice.

Wha t you will bring

• Strong experience of leading complex construction, engineering, infrastructure or utility projects through the full project life cycle.
• Experience of managing several projects at the same time, including significant budgets, delivery partners and a wide range of stakeholders.
• Good commercial and contractual knowledge, with practical experience of NEC contracts.
• Experience of health and safety management in a construction environment.
• Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to build effective relationships, influence decisions and resolve project issues.
• A relevant project management or technical qualification, professional accreditation, or equivalent experience. NEC accreditation and SMSTS would be an advantage.
• A full UK driving licence and the ability to travel regularly to Yorkshire Water sites.

We embrace a flexible working model, where our hybrid setup typically requires an average of 2 days per week in the office or on site. This could be slightly more when collaborative efforts, training or project deadlines require it.
