Job summary

Standard Life is seeking a Customer Digital lead in Edinburgh to own and deliver high‑quality, customer‑centred digital journeys across our secure digital estate. You will guide product strategy, shape delivery, and coordinate with stakeholders and squads to ensure timely value delivery.

You will line manage Product Owners and Digital Managers, balancing customer experience with risk, and drive measurable improvements in digital outcomes within a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience delivering customer-facing digital products or services in a complex organisation.
• Strong background in Agile digital delivery and driving change from idea to live service.
• Proven ability to improve customer outcomes through digital initiatives with measurable impact.
• Experience leading Product Owners, Digital Managers or equivalent roles.

Responsibilities

• Line manage and develop a team of Product Owners and Digital Managers; set clear expectations.
• Triage, shape and prioritise demand; ensure work reaches squads with clear purpose.
• Balance customer experience, commercial outcomes, delivery capacity and conduct risk.
• Act as senior escalation point for risks, dependencies and trade-offs; build cross-group relationships.

The role

You’ll play a critical role in the Customer Digital team, with clear accountability for delivering high‑quality, customer‑centred digital journeys across our secure digital estate.

You’ll bring strong, hands‑on experience of delivering customer‑facing digital products at pace and feel confident leading in complex, regulated environments, working closely with the Head of Customer Digital to set direction, shape strategy and drive delivery, while acting as the main link between the business, stakeholders and delivery squads.

You’ll triage, shape and prioritise demand, ensuring the right work reaches squads at the right time and with clear purpose along with balancing customer experience, commercial outcomes, delivery capacity and conduct risk to support sustainable, high‑quality digital delivery.

You’ll line manage and develop a team of Product Owners and Digital Managers, setting clear expectations and supporting high performance along with acting as a senior escalation point for risks, dependencies and trade‑offs, build strong cross‑group relationships, and champion customer‑first digital principles, standards and best practice across the organisation.

What we’re looking for

• Proven, hands‑on experience delivering customer‑facing digital products or services (web and/or app) within a complex organisation
• Strong background in Agile digital delivery, with practical experience driving change from idea through to live service
• Demonstrated ability to improve customer outcomes through digital, evidenced by measurable delivery impact
• Experience leading, coaching or managing Product Owners, Digital Managers or equivalent roles
• Strong senior stakeholder management skills, with experience delivering digital change across outsourced, multi‑supplier and regulated environments
