Job summary

East London NHS Foundation Trust in Bedfordshire is seeking an experienced and HCPC-registered Principal Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to join its adult community mental health services in Bedford.

The post combines senior clinical leadership, specialist psychological interventions, and professional supervision of psychologists within a multidisciplinary team, working primarily on-site with occasional travel across Bedfordshire.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Professional Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology.
• Must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
• Eligibility for British Psychological Society Chartered Psychologist status.
• Completed training in clinical supervision.
• Substantial post-qualification experience in adult mental health.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate specialist psychological services within Bedford Adult Community Mental Health Service.
• Provide clinical and operational leadership to psychologists and related staff.
• Conduct highly specialist assessments, formulations and interventions.
• Deliver risk assessments and advise on risk management approaches.
• Provide evidence‑based therapies to adults with complex needs.
• Offer clinical supervision and mentorship to staff.
• Collaborate with managers and multidisciplinary teams.
• Monitor quality of psychological practice and ensure standards.
• Support service development and participation in audits/research.
