The Lead Practitioner will model high-quality pedagogy for Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5, mentor early-career teachers and drive data-informed interventions to raise achievement. This is a full-time, permanent appointment.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or QTLS) with honours in Social Science or Business.
• Proven history of delivering strong GCSE/A-Level/vocational results.
• Experience in peer coaching, staff development, curriculum auditing or assessment analysis.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with mentoring abilities.
• Enhanced DBS ( Update Service ) or willingness to apply.

Responsibilities

• Model exemplar classroom delivery across GCSE, A-Level and vocational social science courses.
• Lead departmental coaching in macro/microeconomic modeling, sociological theory critique, and structured essay writing.
• Mentor social science teachers with peer observations and cognitive science strategies.
• Oversee internal moderation for vocational portfolios and controlled assessments.
• Analyze assessment metrics to design targeted revision schedules and mock exams.
• Support Sixth Form UCAS applications for Social Sciences, Economics and Law.

Job Overview

The Lead Practitioner of Social Sciences will combine expert classroom teaching with strategic responsibility for whole-faculty pedagogy across Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5.

You will model evidence-based teaching strategies, mentor early-career social science teachers, lead staff coaching in evaluative essay writing and quantitative data interpretation, and design academic tracking frameworks. This is a full-time, permanent position.
