Job summary

The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Specialist Senior Pharmacy Technician to join the Pharmacy Clinical Trials Team. You will co-manage a small team, recruit and appraise staff, and oversee 100–150 active studies with about 30–35 in set-up.

You will ensure ICH-GCP compliance, manage study budgets, deliver training to clinical and non-clinical staff, and contribute to trials documentation. A hospital pharmacy background and GPhC registration are essential.

Qualifications

• Qualified Pharmacy Technician with S/NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services and approved underpinning knowledge, e.g. BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science, or equivalent recognised qualification.
• Registered with GPhC.
• ICR certificate in Clinical research or similar post graduate qualification.

Responsibilities

• Co-manage a small team of clinical trials technicians and assistants within your area to provide a high level Trust-wide Pharmacy Clinical Trials service.
• Involved in recruitment of new staff and carrying out appraisals for current staff in your area.
• Manage the Pharmacy aspects of 100 - 150 active commercial and non-commercial studies at any one time with approximately 30-35 trials in set-up phase.
• Manage financial activities relating to research.
• Deliver training to Clinical Trials staff and non-Clinical Trials staff within your unit.
• Communicate with internal and external professionals and attend meetings via teleconference or face-to-face.
• Develop and adapt IT tools; utilise Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
