Job summary

Job description

The post holder is responsible for coordinating the safe, efficient and cost-effective procurement, storage and distribution of medicines and medical devices across Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. Working under the supervision of senior pharmacy technicians and pharmacists, they will support the delivery of high-quality patient care by ensuring medicines are available when and where required. The role includes operational management of pharmacy support staff, workforce planning, performance monitoring, training and service development activities. The post holder will ensure compliance with legal, regulatory and departmental standards, contribute to quality improvement initiatives, investigations and audits, and support the continuous development of pharmacy services to maintain safe, effective and patient-centred care., The post holder will coordinate the safe, efficient and cost-effective procurement, storage and distribution of medicines and medical devices across Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, ensuring patients and clinical areas have timely access to medicines. They will use pharmacy computer systems to support purchasing, stock control and distribution activities, maintaining high standards of accuracy and patient safety. The role includes supervising pharmacy support staff, allocating workloads, producing rotas, managing sickness and annual leave, supporting recruitment and training, and contributing to delivery of departmental KPIs.
