Job summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Highly Specialist Clinical Pharmacist (Band 8a) to lead the pharmacy sustainability programme. You will deliver medicines optimisation, drive environmental and financial savings, and support clinical services development across UHS.

You will work within a dynamic team, leading green projects, governance activities, and education across the organisation, contributing to the Green Plan and Net Zero ambitions.

Qualifications

• Masters Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent.
• Registered with General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
• Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent experience.
• Advanced Stage 1 competencies in the RPS Advanced Pharmacy Framework related to medical or surgical patients.
• Desirable: Independent Prescribing qualification or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Lead and implement innovative sustainability projects across the Trust.
• Develop and deliver Trust-wide IV to oral antimicrobial switch programmes.
• Reduce inappropriate IV paracetamol use through medicines optimisation.
• Increase use of tablets and capsules where clinically appropriate.
• Deliver sustainable prescribing initiatives and savings across the organisation.
• Support business case development, medicines governance and service improvement.
• Work with clinical sustainability leads to drive transformational change.
• Provide expert pharmaceutical care within multidisciplinary teams and educate staff.
