Job summary

NHS North East London Integrated Care Board seeks an experienced Lead Pharmacist, Medicines Value, to drive medicines optimisation savings across North East London. Qualifications

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dynamic pharmacist to join the NHS North East London Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation Team as Lead Pharmacist, Medicines Value. This is a senior system leadership role with responsibility for developing, implementing and monitoring medicines optimisation savings and efficiency programmes across North East London. The postholder will lead work to identify opportunities, reduce unwarranted variation and ensure prescribing savings are delivered and monitored effectively.

Main duties of the job

Working closely with pharmacy, clinical, commissioning and finance colleagues, you will provide expert leadership on medicines value, prescribing financial planning and budget management. You will oversee delivery of the Prescribing Efficiencies Team's operational plan, provide regular reporting on progress and risks, and support practices, Primary Care Networks and place-based teams to deliver safe, clinically appropriate and cost-effective prescribing.

Person Specification

Education / Qualifications

Essential

• Registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). MPharm degree or equivalent pharmacy qualification.

Desirable

• Postgraduate Clinical Pharmacy qualification or equivalent.

Experience

• Significant post-registration pharmacist experience. Experience of medicines optimisation, formulary management, medicines governance, prescribing support or implementation of medicines-related policies and guidance.
• Experience of working collaboratively with clinicians and stakeholders across primary, community and/or secondary care settings.

Knowledge

• Knowledge of medicines optimisation, formulary processes, NICE guidance and NHS medicines policy. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to analyse and present complex clinical information.
• Understanding of the NHS commissioning and healthcare landscape, including the interface between primary and secondary care.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to analyse and present complex clinical information.
