Job summary

Stockport Academy in Greater Manchester is seeking an ambitious Lead Practitioner of Physical Education to raise standards in practical and theoretical PE, support faculty coaching, and drive fitness initiatives. The role covers Core PE, GCSE PE, and KS5 A‑Level/Technical Sport programmes.

You will model evidence-based pedagogy, refine biomechanics, physiology and sports psychology modules, and ensure moderation portfolios align with board standards. This is a full-time, permanent post.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with an honors degree in a relevant field.
• Proven history of delivering top-tier GCSE and A-Level/Level 3 Sport results.
• Leadership experience in peer coaching, curriculum design or moderation.
• NGB coaching or officiating certifications in major team/individual sports.
• Enhanced DBS check via Update Service or willingness to apply.

Responsibilities

• Model exemplary teaching across Core PE, GCSE PE, and KS5 A‑Level/BTEC Sport.
• Lead faculty coaching, peer observations, and PD on theory delivery.
• Standardize practical assessment criteria, moderation video portfolios and NEA logs.
• Oversee fixtures, transport logistics, and health and safety for sporting trips.
• Analyze assessment metrics to drive targeted intervention workshops.
• Mentor early-career PE teachers in theory delivery and coaching methods.
