Job summary

Northamptonshire Healthcare Nhs Foundation Trust is seeking a Specialist Paediatric Diabetes Dietitian to lead dietetic care for children with diabetes at Northampton General Hospital. The post requires autonomous practice and close collaboration with the paediatric diabetes team to deliver personalised care.

You will provide expert dietary input, develop intervention plans linked to MDT care, and contribute to pathway development, training, and family-centred education.

Qualifications

• Sound clinical background in diabetes, preferably paediatric, with NHS experience.
• Ability to work autonomously within a paediatric diabetes MDT.
• Excellent communication with children, families and the care team.

Responsibilities

• Provide dietetic assessment, advice and counselling to children with type 1 or 2 diabetes across clinics, home visits and school training.
• Advise on insulin adjustment, carbohydrate counting and glycaemic targets.
• Review nutritional status, growth and laboratory results to tailor care plans.
• Lead and develop care pathways within the paediatric diabetes service.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team and participate in case conferences.
• Educate families on glycaemic management and carbohydrate counting.
