Are you an experienced Safety Engineer looking for a leadership role within a cutting‑edge defence environment? Our client, a prestigious organisation operating in the Defence sector, is seeking a highly skilled Lead OME Safety Engineer to join their team in Bristol. This role offers a fantastic hybrid working arrangement, requiring presence onsite three days a week, and provides an exciting opportunity to influence safety standards across complex maritime platforms.

Due to the tight timescales involved, successful candidates are required to already hold a valid SC security clearance.

About the Role

As the Lead OME Safety Engineer, you will leverage your extensive safety engineering expertise to support acquisition projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and MOD regulations. Your deep understanding of Systems Engineering approaches, particularly in the context of Ordnance, Munitions, and Explosives (OME), will be instrumental in guiding technical safety requirements and documentation for diverse systems. You will coordinate safety engineers, oversee safety assurance activities, and act as the primary adviser for acquisition safety across the portfolio. The role involves managing safety risk throughout the lifecycle of the equipment from initial certification to decommissioning while ensuring adherence to statutory and regulatory responsibilities.
