Job summary

East Kent Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking an experienced Principal Sonographer to lead the Trust's non-obstetric ultrasound service. You will provide professional, operational and clinical leadership, ensuring a safe, effective and patient-centred service while supporting a skilled team of sonographers and radiology staff.

You will drive quality improvement, workforce planning and service development, collaborating with senior management to meet national standards and introduce new technologies

Qualifications

• 5+ years post degree ultrasound experience with last year at band 7 or above
• Minimum of three years post-qualification ultrasound experience
• Proven leadership in clinical settings improving patient care and team performance
• Experience with Quality Management Systems and NHS operational standards

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for the Trust-wide Non-Obstetric Ultrasound Service.
• Lead workforce planning, recruitment, retention, appraisal and staff development.
• Drive service recovery and performance against national standards (DM01, RTT, Cancer).
• Lead quality improvement initiatives to improve patient access, diagnostic quality and productivity.
• Introduce new technologies, pathways and workforce models.
• Oversee governance, risk management, incident investigation and learning.
