A leading media organization is seeking an experienced news editor to lead their London newsroom. This role involves overseeing a team to ensure fast and accurate coverage of breaking news across platforms. Responsibilities include managing live coverage, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and crafting engaging stories. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of journalism experience and proven skills in editing and digital storytelling. This full-time position is based in Greater London.
The Wall Street Journal is seeking an experienced high-energy news editor to play a central role in our London newsroom. You will lead a team on the London hub driving coverage when news breaks and ensuring our journalism is fast, accurate and distinctive across platforms.
This role requires both newsroom leadership and hands‑on editing: you will commission, edit and publish sometimes write the first takes of major breaking stories. You’ll also play a key role in live coverage including making decisions to launch world live blogs.
Beyond breaking news you will serve as the lead project manager for creating rich reader‑focused digital experiences. From conception to publication you’ll collaborate across bureaus, time zones and teams—including visuals, video, audio design, publishing and audience—to bring ambitious stories to life.
You’ll also help shape the Journal’s daily line‑up, craft sharp headlines and alerts and champion creative storytelling across formats.
