Job summary

Hertfordshire County Council in Stevenage is seeking a Lead Network Engineer to drive the design, implementation and ongoing improvement of our enterprise network. You will lead a team of Network Engineers, Technicians and Apprentices, delivering secure, resilient and scalable solutions across a complex environment.

You will collaborate with ICT, security and suppliers to translate business needs into technical outcomes, maintain strong stakeholder relationships and champion modern networking

Qualifications

• Recognised networking qualification to Cisco CCNA level or equivalent.
• Significant experience in enterprise networking within large, complex environments.
• Strong understanding of network security and secure design.
• Experience with LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, wireless networking, routing and switching.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP and OSPF.
• Experience with network security technologies such as firewalls and proxies.
• proven experience leading, coaching and supporting technical teams.
• Excellent communication and ability to explain technical concepts to varied audiences.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with emerging technologies.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, implementation and continuous improvement of secure, resilient network solutions.
• Manage and develop a team of Network Engineers, Technicians and Apprentices.
