Job summary

Griffon Marine is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the shipyard team in Portchester. You will oversee production projects, monitor progress, and ensure delivery to spec, on time and within budget.

The role requires leadership of production staff, collaboration with customers and cross-functional teams, and a focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement in marine engineering environments.

Qualifications

• Experience of leading a production team within a similar project environment.
• Ability to coach and develop other members of staff.
• Capable of working with customers and staff at all levels.
• Ability to motivate others who are not direct reports.
• Ability to generate a positive project and team ethos.
• Ability to work independently abroad for current customers.
• Experienced in Lathe &/ Mill operation.
• Proven experience in Marine Industry.
• Knowledge or experience with engines.
• Understanding of technical mechanical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Manage activities and progress of all production projects to ensure delivery to specifications, timescales and budgets.
• Follow schedules to maintain delivery dates.
• Cross-trade when needed to keep projects on track.
• Inspect products for fit, form and function requirements.
• Suggest improved manufacturing methodologies for mechanical assemblies.
• Motivate staff to achieve departmental and personal objectives.
• Ensure adherence to company values and safety standards.
• Develop teamwork and ensure projects follow schedules.
