Job summary

Assystem UK Ltd is seeking a Mid-Senior Mechanical Engineer to own mechanical and structural design in a highly regulated energy sector. You will lead engineering teams, drive design reviews, and ensure compliance with Machinery Safety Regulations and LOLER.

You will use Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD and FEA tools, engage with suppliers, and mentor others to deliver safe, reliable and efficient solutions on complex projects. Eligibility for UK security clearance is required.

Qualifications

• BEng (2:1 or higher) in Mechanical Engineering (Master's preferred).
• Proven experience in mechanical engineering within a highly regulated sector.
• Strong knowledge of design for fabrication, welding and manufacturing tolerancing.
• Chartered Engineer.
• Experience with MBSE is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor engineering teams, ensuring high-quality technical solutions that meet customer requirements.
• Oversee the mechanical design process, including bespoke mechanical handling systems, lifting equipment and accessories, from concept through to manufacture.
• Manage the development, review, and checking of technical documentation, including verification of design reports, detailed design drawings, technical files, calculations, and compliance documentation.
• Provide technical guidance and risk assessment, identifying and mitigating challenges before they impact project timelines.
• Collaborate with project managers, other lead engineers, and stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
• Work with Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and FEA tools.
• Engage with the supply chain, liaising with vendors to specify and develop mechanical components.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations, such as Machinery Safety Regulations and LOLER.
