Job description
Mechanical Design Engineer - Naval/Marine Domain

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team, focusing on combat design review and providing mechanical design feedback (Structural, Thermal & Hydraulic) within the Naval/Marine domain.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Review combat designs and provide feedback on mechanical aspects.
  2. Take ownership of specific mechanical design issues and manage integrated combat systems.
  3. Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, managing updates and design inputs.
  4. Produce CS Mechanical design interface information.
  5. Perform engineering calculations and generate associated test specifications and procedures.
  6. Create engineering drawings using FORAN, CADS5, or Viso in accordance with BS 8888 standards.

This role is part of the specialist engineering services within the Platform Physical Design and Installation Service, playing a crucial role in integrating combat systems onto the Royal Navy Submarine Fleet. The position offers opportunities to liaise with high-level stakeholders and develop a long-term career with BAE Systems.

Essential Experience and Qualifications:

  • Hydraulic/Pneumatic Systems Engineering experience.
  • Degree or HND qualification with relevant experience.
  • Chartered status or working towards chartership.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge or experience of Defence Standards.
