Job summary

Spirax-Sarco Ltd. in Havant is seeking an experienced Senior/Lead Injection Moulding Engineer to provide technical leadership across injection moulding, polymer processing, tooling and new product introduction.

You will develop and optimise moulding processes, troubleshoot tooling and processing issues, and work closely with toolmakers to deliver robust tooling and repeatable manufacturing. The role offers hybrid working, opportunities to mentor engineers, and a path to drive key NPI projects

Qualifications

• Extensive injection moulding process development and troubleshooting experience.
• Deep knowledge of polymer materials and their processing characteristics.
• Experience collaborating with mould toolmakers on new tooling.
• Able to optimise moulding processes to meet specs.
• Knowledge of mould tool design, gating, cooling, venting, ejection, shrinkage, warpage.
• Experience supporting new product introductions and production handover.
• Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.
• Excellent communication with internal teams and suppliers.
• Experience with CAD models and drawings; SolidWorks is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead injection moulding process development, optimisation, troubleshooting, and validation.
• Fine-tune moulding parameters to meet specs.
• Provide expert support on polymer selection and processing.
• Work with mould toolmakers on new designs and modifications.
• Support new product introduction from concept to production.
• Diagnose and resolve moulding defects, tooling issues and process instability.
• Establish robust process windows and capability improvements.
• Review tooling designs and advise on gating, cooling, venting, ejection, and manufacturability.
• Support validation, quality investigations, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
• Define gauging concepts for critical moulded features and interfaces.
• Support design and validation of dedicated inspection fixtures and gauges.
• Coordinate with gauge suppliers for robust gauging solutions.
• Support gauge repeatability and reproducibility studies.
• Ensure gauging strategies align with mould trials, process validation, and quality control.
• Mentor engineers and technicians in best practice injection moulding and tooling.
