Job description

Our Company

Evotec is a leader in the discovery and development of novel small molecule drugs with operational sites in Europe and the US. The Company has built substantial drug discovery expertise and an industrialised platform that can drive new innovative small molecule compounds into the clinic. In addition, Evotec has built a deep internal knowledge base in the treatment of diseases related to neuroscience, pain, oncology, inflammation and metabolic diseases. Leveraging these skills and expertise the Company intends to develop best-in-class differentiated therapeutics and deliver superior science-driven discovery alliances with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.

Job Type: Permanent

Location: Abingdon (UK), Alderley Park (UK) or Verona (Italy)

Purpose of the role

The Lead In Silico Business Partner, Biology is the single front door between Evotec's Global Biology Operations segment and the global In Silico & AI organization, owning the relationship, the demand and the in silico roadmap for the segment worldwide. The role translates the segment's purpose, finding the right biological pathway and the right target to treat the right patient, into prioritized in silico and AI requirements across disease biology, translational precision medicine, target identification and validation, and patient stratification, then orchestrates delivery across the capability units and holds it to quality, timing and measurable value. Disease-to-Target is one of three capabilities Evotec is industrializing as a differentiator, anchored on E.MPD, a proprietary tissue paired multi omics resource covering roughly 27,000 patients that competitors cannot replicate. This is the business partnering seat closest to Evotec's most defensible data advantage.

Core accountabilities
  • Own the end to end relationship between Global Biology Operations and the In Silico & AI function globally, acting as the single accountable front door for all incoming demand.
  • Shape and own the in silico and AI roadmap for the biology business, with particular focus on Disease-to-Target, one of the three capabilities Evotec is industrializing as a differentiator.
  • Capture, structure and prioritize demand from biology leadership, translating scientific and operational needs into clear, testable requirements together with Solution Managers, the AI Accelerator and Solutions & Data.
  • Orchestrate the in silico contribution across Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, AI Accelerator and Solutions & Data, ensuring alignment, delivery quality and timely execution.
  • Drive the application of E.MPD and other proprietary patient derived multi omics assets to segment work, so that target identification and validation are grounded in real disease biology rather than generic models.
  • Support the chemistry by biology flagship programmes owned by Strategy & Portfolio, ensuring validated targets and multi omics disease context flow into therapeutic design.
  • Partner with the segment on differentiated value propositions and segment innovation, articulating where in silico and AI change what Evotec can credibly offer the market.
  • Provide structured input to segment and portfolio level prioritization, including demand visibility, cross unit dependencies, resourcing needs, investment cases and expected value.
  • Contribute the in silico content to client proposals and bids where biology services are in scope, working with Commercial, Business Development and Global Portfolio Management on differentiation and pricing.
  • Track and evidence the value delivered, including de-risking impact on priority programmes through stop, switch or acceleration decisions, margin uplift, and in silico attributed revenue.
  • Serve as moderator and escalation point for conflicting priorities, and represent In Silico & AI in biology leadership forums as a change agent for new ways of working.
Capability, Knowledge and Experience
  • Proven ability to build trusted relationships with senior scientific and operational leadership, and to influence without direct authority in a global matrix
  • Working technical fluency in the computational biology toolbox: analysis of transcriptomics, proteomics and genomics data, single cell and spatial methods, pathway and network biology, causal inference, patient stratification and biomarker discovery, and machine learning on high dimensional biological data. Depth in several, credible literacy across all
  • Sound understanding of target identification and validation, and of what constitutes credible computational evidence for a target in a partner facing context
  • Familiarity with translational science and precision medicine approaches, including the use of patient derived cohorts and real disease context
  • Practical understanding of the AI delivery lifecycle, including data quality and FAIR principles, reproducible pipelines, model validation, MLOps, and what it takes to move a method from prototype into validated production use
  • Track record of translating between experimental biology and computational delivery, so that both sides recognise their own problem in the agreed requirement
  • Commercial acumen: shaping proposals, building value and investment cases, and supporting pricing and differentiation conversations
  • Strong portfolio, demand and project management discipline in complex, multi stakeholder environments
  • Structured, proactive working style with the leadership presence to hold a line on prioritization
  • Change leadership, with experience driving adoption of new technology or new ways of working across established teams
Education and Qualifications
  • PhD or M.Sc. in life sciences, systems or computational biology, bioinformatics, biostatistics, data science, or a related discipline
  • Previous experience in biotech, pharma, CRO, or a comparable science driven environment
  • Demonstrable experience partnering with, or working inside, disease biology, translational or multi omics functions
  • Evidence of in silico or AI methods delivered into routine scientific use, not only into pilot
  • Experience working across multiple countries and sites in an international matrix organization
  • Fluent business English; an additional European language is an advantage
