Job summary

JN Bentley is seeking an enthusiastic Lead Hand / Ganger to head a groundworks gang on civils projects, primarily within the water sector around Reading. You will report to Site Management and lead a gang on various sites, focusing on safety, efficiency, and quality.

The role requires CSCS/CPCS or NPORS with NVQ, a full UK driving licence, and a proactive safety-first mindset. An existing gang and relevant plant tickets are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Experience managing a civils gang on civils projects.
• CSCS, CPCS / NOCN or NPORS with NVQ and Plant Tickets.
• Site Supervisor or Site Management training.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• National Water Hygiene card (advantageous).
• Thames Water Passport (advantageous).
• Slinger / Signaller or Crane Lift Supervisor (advantageous).
• Confined Spaces City & Guilds (advantageous).
• 3 day First Aid (advantageous).

Responsibilities

Job description

Here at JN Bentley we are looking for an enthusiastic and positive Lead Hand / Ganger to lead a groundworks gang who live in and around the Reading area and to work across the region on our sites, who can ideally join with a ready-made gang.

In the role you will report to Site Management and lead a gang on various construction sites predominantly within the water industry.

You will have a proactive attitude towards work and health and safety, with ideally experience working within the water industry and general civil work, concreting, deep drainage and pipe laying.

Candidate Specification

• Experience managing a gang working on civils projects.
• Ideally with a ready-made gang with experienced Skilled and General Operative
• A positive attitude towards work, along with the ability to maintain high standards of health and safety, with experience of a reporting culture.
• Current CSCS, CPCS / NOCN or NPORS with NVQ and Plant Tickets.
• Site Supervisor or Site Management training.
• Full UK Driving Licence essential.
