Job summary

A leading animation studio is seeking an experienced Lead Groom Artist to create character grooms using Yeti for Maya for their upcoming project. This remote position requires strong grooming techniques, proficiency in Maya and Yeti, and excellent communication skills. Candidates must have at least 4 years of production experience and be based in the UK or EU. The contract runs from December 2025 to August 2026.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of production experience in a relevant field.
• Experience in a senior or lead role.
• Good understanding of pipeline and workflow requirements.

Responsibilities

• Create hair, fur, and feather grooms for characters and creatures.
• Update assets from previous films to the appropriate version of Yeti.
• Collaborate with CFX artists for hair simulations.
• Ensure quality control on character asset publication.

Job description

Red Star are looking for an experienced LEAD GROOM ARTIST to work remotely on our production of THE AMAZING MAURICE 2. Candidates must be based in either the UK (preferred) or the EU.

The Job

• Creation of hair / fur / feather grooms for characters and creatures using Yeti for Maya
• Updating assets from previous film to the appropriate version of Yeti
• Work closely with the CFX artists to set up Yeti graphs that work with Houdini hair simulations
• Work closely with the LookDev artists to deliver high quality character assets
• Quality control on publication of character assets

Must have

• Good understanding of Grooming techniques and efficiencies
• Experience using Yeti and Maya
• Good understanding of pipeline and workflow requirements
• Excellent time management and communication skills
• Experience with Autodesk Shotgrid / Flow Production Tracking
• Four years production experience

Nice to have

• Experience with Houdini
• Experience with other forms of dynamics
• Feature Film experience
