We’re on the lookout for a Lead Gas Engineer (Pipelines & Plant Protection) to help us keep our gas network safe, secure, and running smoothly. This role is all about protecting our pipelines and above‑ground assets, working closely with third parties and internal teams to make sure everything stays compliant and in top condition.

You’ll be part of a skilled and supportive team, working in a fast‑paced environment where safety and attention to detail are key. If you’ve got experience in plant protection and enjoy working with people, this could be a great next step.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Attending and advising third‑party contractors on how their work might affect Cadent’s assets.
  • Supervising excavation work near our pipelines to make sure it’s carried out safely.
  • Carrying out inspections and maintenance on pipelines and associated equipment.
  • Responding to reports of nearby works that could impact our network.
  • Monitoring the condition of our pipelines and above‑ground assets.
  • Engaging with customers, contractors, and colleagues to keep everyone informed and aligned.
  • Keeping records up to date and making sure all work follows health, safety, and environmental procedures.
What You’ll Bring
  • Experience: Background in plant protection or a similar operational role.
  • Technical know‑how: Solid understanding of pipeline maintenance and protection methods.
  • People skills: Confident communicator who can work well with a range of stakeholders.
  • Flexibility: Willing to work varied hours and take part in the standby rota.
