Job summary

Digital Waffle is seeking an Engineering Team Lead (Mobile / Flutter) in Hereford, a hybrid role requiring 2–3 days in the office. You will lead a Flutter team, write production code, set mobile architecture standards and collaborate with backend and platform teams.

The ideal candidate has proven Flutter and Dart production experience, strong mobile engineering background, and prior leadership responsibility. You will drive modern engineering practices and customer-focused delivery.

Qualifications

• Proven commercial Flutter and Dart experience shipping and maintaining production mobile apps.
• Strong mobile engineering background covering architecture, lifecycle, state management, platform channels, and release pipelines.
• Experience leading teams with real people leadership responsibility and hands-on mentoring.

Responsibilities

• Lead a product-aligned engineering team building and iterating on the mobile app in Flutter and Dart.
• Stay deeply hands-on in the codebase, writing production Flutter code and setting the standard for mobile architecture, patterns and craft.
• Partner with the Senior Engineer to raise the overall mobile capability of the group.
• Coach and mentor engineers across levels, taking accountability for team decisions while enabling collaboration.
• Own design, development, quality and documentation of medium-to-high complexity software.
• Champion a customer-centric, test-and-learn delivery approach across the team.
• Identify opportunities to optimise development and deployment processes.
• Design and develop solutions with security controls embedded from the outset.
