Job summary

Airbus Operations Limited in Filton is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and build of advanced fluid test benches, coordinating with external suppliers and driving test automation initiatives. You will run commissioning and hands-on testing of high‑pressure systems, ensuring accurate data collection and instrumentation calibration.

The role requires hands-on lab experience, knowledge of hydraulics/pneumatics, and familiarity with test rig configuration management.

Qualifications

• HNC level in Mechanical Engineering or a completed Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship.
• Significant background working hands-on within a test laboratory environment.
• Direct experience testing large, high‑pressure fluid mechanical systems (e.g., hydraulics, pneumatics, high‑flow pumps).
• Proven experience with hydro‑mechanical instrumentation and data logging/acquisition systems.
• Practical knowledge of test rig parts configuration management and commissioning procedures.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, integration and build of new fluid mechanical lab test benches to advance facility capabilities.
• Coordinate with external suppliers to support builds and bring in digital platforms and test automation technologies.
• Prepare commissioning procedures and conduct hands-on testing on large, high‑pressure fluid mechanical systems.
• Operate data logging equipment, validate instrumentation calibration and perform system data analysis.
• Resolve cross-functional (electrical/mechanical/software) issues and shape long-term sub‑domain strategy.
