Job summary

EFT Systems is seeking a Lead Fire & Security Engineer to oversee service contracts and installation projects across the North East. The role involves reactive maintenance, commissioning of alarms, and mentoring junior engineers, with a home-based working setup and regional travel.

The ideal candidate will have supervisory experience, strong fault-finding skills, and a clean UK driving licence. On-call rota and overtime are included, with a pension and benefits package.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Fire & Security / Life Safety Systems Engineer.
• Experience at supervisor level or ready to step up in to a Lead Engineer position.
• Strong fault-finding and first-time fix capability.
• Experience of commissioning fire alarms, advanced panels and cause and effect changes.
• Full, clean UK driving licence.
• Able to pass DBS check and BS7858 security screening.
• IT competent (PDA, Microsoft Word & Excel).

Responsibilities

• Reactive maintenance and servicing of fire & security systems.
• Commissioning/recommissioning of fire alarms.
• Support and mentor Engineers.
• Small works installations and commissioning.
• Managing van stock and ordering equipment.
• Producing technical surveys to support quotations.

Location: Home-based - covering the North East area
Hours: 42.5 hours per week (door-to-door paid) + on-call rota, overtime
Salary: Up to £40,000 + overtime available

Due to continued expansion, EFT Systems - an established life safety and security company with over 50 years' industry presence - is seeking an experienced Lead Engineer to support large service contracts and installation projects across the North East area.

Key responsibilities include:

• Reactive maintenance and servicing of fire & security systems
• Commissioning/recommissioning of fire alarms
• Support and mentor Engineers
• Small works installations and commissioning
• Managing van stock and ordering equipment
• Producing technical surveys to support quotations
• Supervising subcontractors and supporting apprentices
• Maintaining clear communication with customers
• Completing documentation via electronic PDA

Work will cover commissioning of fire alarms, service and repairs of fire extinguishers, intruder alarms, CCTV, access control, emergency lighting and monitoring systems.
