Fortress Recruit is working with a Defence Manufacturing business delivering advanced infrastructure and critical navigation technologies across the UK and overseas. They're now looking for an experienced Lead Field Engineer to lead a small technical team in the field, providing hands‑on engineering expertise and ensuring complex naval systems are installed and maintained.

Key responsibilities
  • Lead installation, commissioning, and fault finding activities on vessels or in dockyards in the UK and overseas.
  • Manage and mentor a small team of field engineers.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and control system faults.
  • Ensure all on‑site work meets safety and quality requirements.
  • Prepare clear technical and visit reports.
  • Build strong on‑site relationships with customers and naval personnel.
  • Identify service improvements and opportunities.
  • Deliver training to naval or technical teams.
  • Travel internationally to support customer needs.
To be successful in this role, you'll have
  • HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
  • Strong background in field installation, commissioning, and diagnostics.
  • Leadership experience within small technical teams.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.
  • Confidence engaging with senior military/engineering stakeholders.
  • Competence with Microsoft Office for documentation, scheduling, and reporting.
  • Full UK driving licence, passport, and eligibility for UK SC Clearance (5 years' UK residency without sponsorship or visa requirement).
