Job summary

University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust seeks an Expert Biomedical Scientist (BMS) with proven leadership to act as training lead within the Histology service. The role requires line management of staff, collaboration with the Histology Manager and other Expert BMS colleagues to deliver a high-quality laboratory service.

UKAS, NEQAS, audit experience and knowledge of lean change in pathology are essential, with an appetite for staff development and education.

Qualifications

• Expert Biomedical Scientist with proven laboratory leadership experience.
• Experience in histopathology and training/education delivery.
• Familiarisation with UKAS standards, NEQAS, audits and safe practice.

Responsibilities

• Support Quality Assurance and Training programmes with Histology Manager.
• Supervise, train and develop laboratory staff.
• Participate in other sections of the Histology service when required.
• Support molecular pathology testing within histopathology.
• Develop staff to meet team objectives.
• Manage day-to-day laboratory functions within SOPs.
