Job summary

E-ACT West Walsall Academy is seeking an ambitious Lead Teacher of English to drive excellence in teaching and learning. You will model outstanding practice, develop colleagues, strengthen the English curriculum, and ensure every student reaches their full potential.

You will lead planning and data analysis to monitor progress, support staff development, and ensure high-quality lessons across the department.

Qualifications

• Qualified teacher status or recognised equivalent.
• Degree in subject specialism.
• Ability to teach ‘good or outstanding’ lessons.
• Effective classroom management; knowledge of current education legislation, Ofsted framework and best practice.

Responsibilities

• Model the highest level of teaching in your own classroom and lead improvement of others.
• Accelerate improvement and raise standards in English.
• Plan and deliver high-quality lessons and support extra-curricular engagement.
• Analyse performance data to ensure student progress and targeted support.
• Lead data collection and dissemination to help staff evaluate group performance against targets.
