Job summary

Robert Blake School in Bridgwater is seeking an ambitious Teacher of English and Lead Practitioner of Literacy to lead and develop literacy across the school. You will teach high-quality English lessons, secure excellent outcomes and champion reading, vocabulary and disciplinary literacy across all curriculum areas.

You will coach colleagues, deliver professional development, and work with leaders to secure sustained improvement.

Qualifications

Experience leading literacy development across a whole school.
Outstanding English teaching track record.
Experience coaching colleagues and delivering development programmes.
Ability to implement evidence-informed literacy practices across curriculum areas.

Responsibilities

Teach high-quality English lessons and secure excellent outcomes for students.
Lead the strategic development of literacy across the school.
Champion reading, vocabulary development and disciplinary literacy across all curriculum areas.
Support colleagues in embedding evidence-informed literacy practices within teaching and learning.
Deliver coaching, modelling and professional development to staff.
Promote a culture where literacy is everyone's responsibility.
Develop and evaluate literacy interventions to improve student outcomes.
Work with leaders and departments across United Learning to deliver sustained improvement.
