Job Title : Lead Engineer
Location : Portsmouth Region
Job Type : Permanent, Full-time (38 hours per week)
I am seeking a Lead Engineer to provide critical support to the Engineering Manager in delivering a major new build reservoir project , the first of its kind in the South West in over 40 years. This is a unique opportunity to move beyond the typical water AMP cycle and play a key role in a huge infrastructure programme that will have a lasting impact on the local community . The project is technically complex, high-profile, and runs through to 2033, offering long-term stability, challenge, and professional growth .
This role involves managing design reviews, overseeing technical queries, and ensuring compliance with safety standards and contractual timelines. You will take ownership of specific engineering work packages, act as the technical lead on smaller components, and ensure accurate data is available for contractors. Collaboration with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders will be central to securing alignment on solutions and strengthening engineering assurance systems and processes.
As Lead Engineer, you will manage design coordination and technical assurance across the project. You’ll chair meetings and workshops with design teams, contractors, and operations, ensuring alignment of solutions and resolution of technical queries.
