Job summary

Resource On Demand Limited, on behalf of a growing Salesforce ISV based in Liverpool, is seeking an Engineering Technical Lead to own the technical direction of the Engineering team.

The role blends hands-on software engineering with commercial thinking, requiring AI focus, mentoring the wider team and shaping the tech roadmap to support business goals. Regular travel to Liverpool is expected.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of commercial software engineering experience.
• Previous technical leadership or senior engineering experience.
• Strong understanding of software architecture and modern development practices.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Commercial awareness and understanding how technology decisions impact the business.
• Proven experience collaborating with Sales and Marketing.

Job description

We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a growing Salesforce ISV based in Liverpool, who are looking for an experienced Engineering Technical Lead to take technical ownership of their Engineering team.

This is a great opportunity for someone who combines strong hands‑on software engineering experience with a commercial and strategic mindset. You won't just be thinking about how something is built — you'll be thinking about why you're building it, how it benefits the business, and how technology can support the wider organisation.

A strong interest in AI is particularly important. Our client is already using tools such as Claude Code and is looking for someone who can help take their use of AI to the next level, including training and mentoring the wider Engineering team.

The role is based from their Liverpool office, with 3 days per week preferred, although they are open to a minimum of 1 day per week for the right candidate. Regular travel to Liverpool will be required.

The Role

As Engineering Technical Lead, you will provide technical leadership across the Engineering function while remaining hands‑on with technology.

You'll work closely with Engineering, Sales, Marketing and other areas of the business, helping to ensure that technical decisions support both product development and wider commercial objectives.

This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys working in a smaller, entrepreneurial environment and wants genuine influence over both the technology and the direction of the business.

Skills and Experience Required

• 5–10 years' commercial software engineering experience.
• Previous technical leadership or senior engineering experience.
• Strong understanding of software architecture and modern development practices.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Commercial awareness and the ability to understand how technology decisions impact the wider business.
• Proven experience working collaboratively with functions such as Sales and Marketing.
• Strong experience using AI development tools such as Claude Code, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Gemini or similar.
• Confidence in coaching and training others in the use of AI tools.
• A pragmatic, hands‑on approach rather than being purely strategic.
• Previous experience working for a Salesforce ISV or within the Salesforce ecosystem.
• Experience working within a smaller, entrepreneurial technology business.
• Experience leading or mentoring an Engineering team.
• Experience with AI‑assisted software development.
