Job description

Overview

Central London | Managed Broadcast & AV Services

We have partnered with a leading managed services provider specialising in broadcast, media, AV operations and systems installations for high-profile government, parliamentary and public sector environments.

They are now looking for a Lead Broadcast Engineer to join a prestigious long-term contract based in central London. This is a hands-on leadership role, overseeing the technical maintenance, operation and reliability of broadcast and AV systems within a live, high-profile environment.

This role would suit an experienced broadcast engineer who enjoys combining technical delivery, team leadership and client-facing responsibility.

The Role

As Lead Broadcast Engineer, you will take ownership of engineering delivery across the contract, working closely with the Contract Manager, wider engineering team, operators, suppliers and key client stakeholders.

You will be responsible for ensuring technical systems are maintained, reliable and fit for purpose, while also supporting ongoing upgrades, installations, special events and business continuity planning.

What You’ll Do
  • Leading the engineering team across fault identification, resolution, maintenance and technical support
  • Mentoring and supporting engineers and multiskilled operators
  • Scheduling preventative maintenance, testing and regular system checks
  • Maintaining asset records and supporting change control processes
  • Reporting on engineering issues and supporting regular service review meetings
  • Acting as a key technical interface between the client, internal teams and third-party suppliers
  • Supporting installation, upgrade and development projects
  • Attending commissioning sessions and accepting new systems into service
  • Ensuring documentation, training and technical handovers are managed effectively
  • Supporting special event planning and business continuity activity
What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone with strong broadcast engineering experience, ideally gained in a live production, transmission, managed service, parliamentary, government, news or high-pressure AV/broadcast environment.

You will need to be confident leading a team, communicating with senior stakeholders and staying calm under pressure.

What You’ll Bring
  • Strong experience in broadcast engineering, ideally across live production, transmission, managed services, parliamentary, government, news, corporate AV or similar environments
  • Good working knowledge of vision, audio and control systems
  • Experience with vision mixers, IP routing systems, video and audio technologies
  • Understanding of broadcast IP standards and workflows, including ST 2110, NDI, Dante and Cerebrum
  • Proven ability to fault-find, maintain and support technical systems in a time-sensitive environment
  • Experience scheduling or supporting preventative maintenance and system testing
  • Previous experience mentoring, supporting or leading engineers, operators or technical teams
  • Confidence working directly with clients, stakeholders and third-party suppliers
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • A calm, logical and unflappable approach when working under pressure
  • A proactive attitude, with the ability to use initiative and solve problems quickly
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook
  • A mature, diplomatic and service-led approach when representing the business

An interest in news, current affairs or politics would be useful due to the nature of the environment, but is not essential.

Working Pattern

Typical shift patterns sit between 07:00 and 21:00, covering early, mid and late shifts depending on client activity. The working week is normally Monday to Friday, although some weekend work may be required. Time off in lieu will be provided where applicable.

Please Note

Due to the nature of the client site, this role will be subject to security checks. Candidates will need to provide a clear and verifiable five-year background history, which may be more complex if they have spent extended periods working or living overseas during that time.
