Job summary

develop is seeking a Lead Engineer to own our cloud platform, shepherd the adoption of AI technologies, and drive secure, scalable infrastructure across the business. This hands-on role combines cloud engineering, enterprise infrastructure and AI enablement to deliver cloud-first solutions and improve operational efficiency.

You’ll lead design, implementation and governance of GCP while collaborating with stakeholders to ensure safe, scalable AI deployments and resilient, well-documented

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in Infrastructure Engineering within a modern cloud environment.
  • Strong hands-on expertise with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Google Workspace.
  • Experience with enterprise AI platforms such as Gemini, Vertex AI, NotebookLM, Claude or similar technologies.
  • Experience supporting Azure, Active Directory, enterprise networking and Microsoft technologies.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security, governance and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Experience delivering technical projects and driving user adoption of new technologies.
  • Google Cloud certifications (Professional Cloud Architect, Security Engineer or similar) are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the ongoing development, optimisation and governance of the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environment.
  • Administer and enhance Google Workspace, identity management and cloud services.
  • Support enterprise infrastructure including Azure, Active Directory, networking (LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN) and DNS.
  • Drive the technical deployment and adoption of modern AI platforms and productivity tools across the organisation.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to ensure AI services are implemented securely, responsibly and at scale.
  • Champion a Secure by Design approach across cloud, identity, networking, AI and data platforms.
  • Deliver infrastructure upgrades, cloud improvements and technical projects.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams and disaster recovery plans.
  • Act as a senior technical SME, providing hands-on support and technical leadership across the infrastructure estate.

Salary: £80,000 - £100,000 per annum, depending on experience

Are you an experienced Engineer with a passion for Google Cloud, enterprise infrastructure and emerging AI technologies? We're working with an innovative, forward-thinking organisation looking for a Lead Engineer to take ownership of its cloud platform while helping drive the adoption of cutting-edge AI technologies across the business.

This is a hands-on technical role where you'll combine cloud engineering, enterprise infrastructure and AI enablement to build secure, scalable platforms that support innovation across the organisation.

The Role

You'll be responsible for designing, implementing and optimising a modern Google Cloud environment while supporting enterprise infrastructure and playing a key role in the rollout of AI technologies. Working closely with technical and business stakeholders, you'll help deliver cloud-first solutions, improve operational efficiency and ensure new technologies are successfully adopted across the business.

About You

You’ll bring:

  • Business continuity and disaster recovery planning.
  • Knowledge of AI governance, responsible AI practices or enterprise AI adoption.
  • Experience working within creative, digital or fast-paced technology environments.
