Job summary

Community Eye Care CHEC in Stevenage is expanding into Endoscopy and seeks an Endoscopy Lead Practitioner to drive outstanding patient care and governance within the Endoscopy Department. You will support the hospital manager, guide the team, help ensure JAG accreditation, and lead day-to-day operations while maintaining high safety and quality standards across the endoscopy pathway.

This is a full-time role (37.5 hours) with flexible days and weekend coverage to meet service needs, and Tier 2

Qualifications

  • Registered practitioner with the NMC or HCPC.
  • At least 1 year of experience as a registered practitioner in Endoscopy.
  • Experience with JAG accreditation.
  • Degree level education or equivalent experience.
  • Previous management or team-leader experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support in the management of the Endoscopy Department to deliver high-quality patient care.
  • Plan and provide care across the endoscopy pathway.
  • Maintain a safe environment and address patient safety issues.
  • Provide specialist advice and support as needed.
  • Ensure equipment and resources are available for upcoming sessions.
  • Participate in care and decontamination of endoscopes with traceability records.
  • Lead and motivate staff and keep communication clear within the department.

Job Title: Endoscopy Lead Practitioner

Location: Stevenage

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: Negotiable depending on experience

This is a full-time role for 37.5 hours a week. You will be required to cover variable days and weekends to meet business needs.

Tier 2 visa sponsorship available.

We are on an exciting journey in expanding our services into Endoscopy. Our services will include gastroscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, and haemorrhoidal banding.

About the Role

The role will be to support the hospital manager in the effective management of the Endoscopy Department ensuring the day-to-day operation reflects the highest standard of governance, clinical effectiveness, and standards of care. You will use your advanced knowledge and experience to guide and support their team whilst actively being involved in the delivery of patient care.

You will contribute significantly to the delivery of CHEC’s endoscopy strategy, ensuring JAG accreditation is supported.

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Support in the management of the endoscopy service, ensuring that the highest quality of patient centred care is delivered
  • Plan and provide quality care across the whole endoscopy patient pathway
  • Provide a safe environment and act on any discrepancies or issues that may affect patient safety
  • Provide specialist advice and support when required
  • Ensure equipment and recourses are available for upcoming endoscopy sessions
  • Participate in the care and decontamination of endoscopes. Including accurate records of traceability of the endoscopes and accessories
  • Provide day to day management and motivation to all staff
  • Maintaining good communication within the department and keep staff informed of all relevant hospital information and changes

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Registered practitioner with the NMC or HCPC
  • At least 1-year previous experience as registered practitioner or equivalent in Endoscopy service
  • Experience with JAG accreditation
  • Passion for high quality patient safety and care
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent level of experience
  • Previous management or team leader experience
