Job summary

Saab UK, part of Scandinavia's largest defence company, is expanding in Bedfordshire. The Electronics Manager will lead the electronics design and prototyping department, guiding a team of engineers and ensuring delivery across multiple programmes.

You will drive DO-254 compliance, design assurance and risk management in safety-critical environments, collaborating with Systems, Software, Mechanical and Programme Management to meet schedule commitments.

Qualifications

• Essential: strong project and programme management experience.
• 6-8 years' experience in project management with a focus on hardware design.
• Significant knowledge in detailed electronics hardware design.
• Understanding of electronics manufacturing processes.
• Excellent attention to detail and proactive work ethic.
• Ability to read legislation and implement compliant processes.
• Experience managing 5+ complex projects with many stakeholders.
• Excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
• Highly organised with the ability to handle multiple projects.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Guide, manage, and develop a delivery from a team of electronic engineers (8-10 staff) across multiple programmes.
• Define team objectives and performance goals aligned with business needs.
• Foster a culture of engineering excellence, traceability, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Act as organisational SME for DO-254 processes, standards, and best practice.
• Maintain design assurance and verification traceability across safety-critical electronics.
• Oversee configuration control, verification and validation activities.
• Work cross-functionally with Systems, Software, Mechanical, Test, and Programme Management teams.
• Support bid development, cost estimation, design planning, and reporting to stakeholders.
• Ensure workloads, priorities, risks, and dependencies are managed to meet schedules.
