Job summary

Energy Jobline CVL is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to provide senior technical leadership for HV and EHV transmission substation projects across the UK. You will guide protection and control design, mentor teams and act as the technical authority on complex power infrastructure projects.

The role requires Chartered Engineer status, a degree in electrical engineering, and extensive experience with protection relays, SCADA systems and IEC 61850.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer status is essential.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Extensive HV/EHV substation protection and control experience.
• Strong knowledge of protection relays, SCADA and IEC 61850.
• Proven experience leading engineering teams and major projects.
• Familiarity with ETAP, DIgSILENT or similar power system software.

Responsibilities

• Lead protection and control engineering across transmission projects.
• Oversee HV/EHV substation protection, automation and control system designs.
• Lead technical reviews and resolve complex engineering challenges.
• Ensure designs meet IEC, IEEE and Grid standards.

We're looking for an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to provide technical leadership across major HV and EHV transmission substation projects throughout the UK.

You'll lead the design and delivery of protection and control systems, acting as a technical authority across complex power infrastructure projects while supporting engineering teams and key stakeholders.

What you’ll be doing

• Leading protection and control engineering across transmission projects
• Overseeing HV/EHV substation protection, automation and control system designs
• Leading technical reviews and resolving complex engineering challenges
• Ensuring designs meet IEC, IEEE and Grid standards
• Providing technical leadership and mentoring to engineering teams
