About the Role
Responsible for overseeing all electrical maintenance, compliance, and project activities across the site. This role ensures that all electrical systems are maintained safely, efficiently, and in line with statutory regulations, industry best practice, and contractual requirements. The Electrical Lead provides technical expertise, mentors junior engineers, and ensures high standards of service delivery at all times.
Responsibilities
- Electrical Maintenance & Compliance
- Lead on all planned, reactive, and preventative electrical maintenance tasks.
- Ensure full compliance with BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations), Electricity at Work Regulations, and all other relevant legislation.
- Carry out fault-finding, diagnosis, and repairs on electrical systems, distribution boards, emergency lighting, and control systems.
- Oversee testing and inspection routines, ensuring accurate certification and documentation.
- Technical Leadership
- Support and mentor engineers, providing guidance on electrical safety and best practices.
- Assist with reviewing technical RAMS, permits to work, and method statements.
- Project & Upgrade Work
- Support or lead small electrical project works, upgrades, and installations.
- Liaise with contractors and suppliers to ensure work is delivered to specification and standard.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain up-to-date records of electrical testing, maintenance, and compliance.
- Ensure the CAFM system is accurately updated with completed works.
- Health, Safety & Quality
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure safe working practices are followed at all times.
- Conduct toolbox talks, site audits, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Level 3 NVQ Electrical Installation (or equivalent).
- 18th Edition (BS 7671) qualification.
- C&G 2391 (Testing & Inspection) preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Experience in building services, FM, or commercial / industrial electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
