Job summary

Egis is expanding its UK Water division and seeks an experienced Lead Electrical / EICA Engineer to drive multidisciplinary water/wastewater projects. You will lead design strategy, own technical decisions, and collaborate across Process, Mechanical, EICA and civil teams to deliver robust treatment solutions across major programmes.

The role offers hybrid working across London, Bristol and Manchester with opportunities for rapid progression in a global infrastructure leader.

Qualifications

• BEng/MEng or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer status with a relevant professional institution.
• Typically 7-10+ years’ relevant experience in water/wastewater or utilities design.
• Proven ability to act as discipline lead or senior technical lead on multidisciplinary projects.
• Strong technical expertise to review, assure and approve complex design outputs.
• Knowledge of UK water industry standards, CDM 2015 and safety-by-design.

Responsibilities

• Lead discipline design delivery on multidisciplinary water/wastewater projects across the full design lifecycle.
• Act as discipline technical lead on projects; own design strategy and key technical decisions.
• Review and approve discipline deliverables including calculations, reports and drawings.
• Coordinate inputs from Process, Mechanical, EICA, civil/structural and construction teams.
• Lead technical workshops, optioneering and client engagement.
• Promote lean and digitally enabled delivery through simulations, data analysis and templates.
• Provide technical assurance and support project managers on risk and resourcing.
• Mentor and manage engineers; support recruitment and chartership progression.
• Contribute to bids, client engagement and growth of the discipline capability.

About the Role

The UK water sector is entering a period of unprecedented investment and transformation. As Egis accelerates the growth of its Water Business in the UK, we are building a high-performing EICA Engineering team to help shape this next chapter.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead discipline design delivery on multidisciplinary water/wastewater treatment projects across the full design lifecycle.
• Act as discipline technical lead on projects, owning design strategy, key technical decisions, interfaces, risks and quality of deliverables.
• Review and approve discipline deliverables including calculations, specifications, reports, models, schedules, drawings and supplier/contractor submissions.
• Lead multidisciplinary coordination, ensuring Process, Mechanical, EICA, civil/structural and construction inputs are integrated into practical treatment solutions.
• Lead technical workshops, optioneering, value engineering, design reviews, risk reviews and client/operator engagement.
• Promote lean and digitally enabled delivery through simulation, automation, data analysis, MEP coordination and reusable tools/templates.
• Provide technical assurance, support project managers with technical risk, scope and resourcing, and help resolve complex design issues.
• Mentor and manage engineers where appropriate, supporting recruitment, development and chartership progression.
• Contribute to business development, bids, client engagement and growth of the discipline capability.

What do we need from you

Minimum Requirements

• BEng/MEng or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer status with a relevant professional institution.
• Typically 7-10+ years’ relevant experience, including substantial water/wastewater treatment, utilities, process, energy or infrastructure design experience.
• Proven ability to act as discipline lead or senior technical lead on multidisciplinary projects.
• Strong technical expertise in the relevant discipline, with ability to review, assure and approve complex design outputs.
• Strong understanding of UK water industry standards, CDM 2015, safety-by-design, regulatory drivers and common delivery models.
• Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary interfaces and resolve complex technical issues.
• Strong digital mindset, with experience applying modelling, automation, data analysis or model-based workflows.
• Confident client-facing communicator with experience leading workshops and technical discussions.
• Experience mentoring or managing engineers and supporting technical capability development.

Desirable Skills / Knowledge

• Deep experience in one or more areas such as wastewater treatment, clean water treatment, sludge/bioresources, water reuse, nutrient removal, pumping, package systems, EICA/control systems, energy optimisation or low-carbon design.
• Experience delivering AMP8, WINEP, SRO, D&B, framework, alliance or contractor-led projects.
• Experience developing design standards, technical guidance, calculation tools, QA processes or reusable digital workflows.
• Experience contributing to recruitment, resource planning, bid writing, technical proposals, client presentations or new service development.
