Overview

Lead Electrical Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) Engineer with RSS qualification to lead EC&I engineering projects in regulated, high-hazard environments. This permanent, hybrid role is based in Warrington and involves leading multi-disciplinary teams, managing complex EC&I designs from concept to execution, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and client expectations across sectors such as Oil & Gas, Nuclear, Energy, Utilities, Chemicals, and Food.

Responsibilities
  • Lead EC&I design activities within EPCM/EPC projects, ensuring integration with other disciplines.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and change control processes.
  • Ensure technical quality and compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Conduct and participate in internal and external design reviews.
  • Secure client acceptance of EC&I designs and deliverables.
  • Collaborate with the EC&I Engineering Manager to plan and allocate resources.
  • Provide expert technical support and make independent engineering decisions.
  • Approve discipline design deliverables in line with company procedures.
  • Estimate, control, and report project costs, progress, and scope changes.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Previous experience as a Lead/Senior EC&I Engineer in multi-discipline engineering environments.
  • Strong technical knowledge of EC&I design and working understanding of other disciplines (Automation, Civil, Mechanical, etc.).
  • MEng/BEng/HNC/HND in EC&I Engineering.
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (preferred).
  • SC Clearance (preferred).
  • RSS qualification or equivalent safety supervision credentials.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and deliver high-quality engineering outcomes.
  • Proficiency in EC&I design tools such as Trimble ProDesign, AutoCAD, Revit, and Dialux.
  • Demonstrated application of industry standards including BS 7671, BS EN 61508, BS EN 60079, BS EN 12464, BS 5266.
Desirable/Additional
  • Experience in both greenfield and brownfield projects.
  • Results-driven mindset with a “right first time” approach.
  • Strong delegation and accountability skills.
  • Ability to manage change control and communicate impacts effectively to clients.
  • Motivational leadership style that drives performance in challenging situations.
