Job summary

Assystem in Warrington is seeking a senior engineering leader to head a multi-disciplinary team on a permanent/contract basis. The role focuses on feasibility assessment, outlining requirements, TRL planning, and delivering safety-critical design deliverables for regulated projects.

You will oversee estimating, scheduling, and resource planning, manage DSA teams, and interface with site clients to ensure delivery within scope. Residency eligibility for UK security clearances is required.

Qualifications

• Background in engineering with a track record of leading technical personnel.
• Experience in an engineering design environment with strong technical knowledge.
• Knowledge of governing laws, regulations and standards for the nuclear industry (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Lead a multi-disciplinary engineering team and deliver the plan for the project.
• Identify feasibility and develop outline requirement specification.

• Prepare a plan for the appraise and select phase delivery within time, cost and quality.
• Lead estimating, scheduling, forecasting and production of design deliverables.

• Identify additional resource needs to ensure all deliverables meet schedule.
• Interface with other Project Discipline leads and with site clients and stakeholders.

Role Responsibilities

Lead and direct a multi-disciplinary engineering team to:

• Identify the feasibility of the approach
• Develop an outline requirement specification
• Identify the TRL levels and associated development plans to deliver a viable solution
• Prepare a plan for the delivery of the appraise and select phase of the project. Deliver to the agreed time, cost and quality
• Lead the multidiscipline teams, responsible for estimating, scheduling, forecasting and the production of the agreed design deliverables
• Manage the DSA teams in production of deliverables
• Develop the safety case(s), including attendance at HAZOPs, support to safety assessment, review of ES, and production of substantiation documentation
• Identify additional resource demand where required to ensure all deliverables can be originated and checked in accordance with the project schedule
• Interface with other Project Discipline leads within the project(s)
• Interface and engage with Site clients and stakeholders

Essential Experience

• Background in engineering, demonstrating a record of successful delivery including recent leadership roles guiding technical personnel
• Significant experience in an engineering design environment with strong technical knowledge
• Recent experience working within a regulated and quality-assured system (preferably nuclear), where professional engineering judgment is key
• Knowledge and understanding of governing laws, regulations, and standards for the nuclear industry (equivalent experience in other industries will be considered):
  • Health & Safety at Work Act
  • The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015
  • Safety of Machinery, CDM, LOLER, Pressure Systems, DSEAR, Ionising Radiation

Qualifications

• Higher Education Qualification in Engineering (or Equivalent) subject
• Appropriate (Engineering or Scientific) Institution Membership.

Additional Information

• Ability to obtain SC Clearance
• Due to the nature of work to be undertaken applicants will be required to meet certain residency criteria in order to attain a minimum level of UK security clearance if not already security cleared to a minimum SC level.
